Self Portrait SS16

‘When London-based designer Han Chong (a Malaysian native and Central Saint Martins alumnus) broke away from Three Floor to strike out on his own nearly two years ago, little did he know that his fledgling brand Self-Portrait would go on to garner international recognition, celebrity fans (Rachel McAdams, Emily Blunt, Jessica Biel, and Kristen Stewart, to name a few), and a coveted spot at New York Fashion Week.’

‘His spring/summer 2016 collection is no different, though it takes on a faster pace (his show in NYC is the first indicator). It’s still feminine, he insists, but there’s a shot of energy and modernity.’ http://www.Instyle.com

You can also shop Self Portrait at Brown Thomas in store and online and at Asos, there are still a few pieces on sale on Asos!

For me, this really is the brand that keeps on giving, and it’s star is on the rise. I will certainly be investing in a piece this SS16.

Neutrals Love

Call it boring, call it safe, call it whatever you like but there’s something I love about neutrals. Maybe it’s the fact that they’re super versatile or that they build the basis of any woman’s wardrobe but believe me these subtle shades make a splash when worn just the right way!
Some Inspiration;

My love of neutrals is not just refined to clothing.

Adidas Superstars

I may still be wearing Ugg boots and knee highs to work but now that Christmas has been celebrated, my thoughts have turned to spring and more importantly summer.

I just ordered these incredibly cool Adidas Superstars.

They are so versatile, I’ll wear them with jeans, denim cut offs and cute dresses when the sun decides to make an appearance in Ireland 🍀

Just wanted to pass on how I got 15% off my order, if you subscribe to Adidas’ newsletter or email here you will be sent a promotion code which is valid for fourteen days on all full price stock-not too shabby!

Brand New Love

Who says Dry January has to be boring? It’s provided me with finances and time to spend an hour or two shopping online anyway.

While bargain hunting on Asos last night and making some purchases of course, I came across a new (to me) brand and I’m pretty excited to share it with all my readers!

C/MEO COLLECTIVE is an Australian brand which has endeavoured to build it’s own ‘unique aesthetic through its inspired use of directional prints, premium fabrics and bold prints’.

Celebrities and style icons such as Gigi Hadid, Jamie Chung, Vanessa Hudgens and Kylie Jenner are all fans.

Spotlight on; Fee G

‘Fee G is an independent Fashion House. Fashion designer Fiona Heaney and her partner Don Gormley created international womenswear label Fee G in 2003. Fee G has a loyal and growing customer each season.’

The Name;

‘Fiona Heaney, also known as ‘Fee’ and partner Don Gormley ‘G’ combined their names and talents and formed the unique brand ‘Fee G’.’

Information on company and name from http://www.feeg.ie

I for one am definitely part of the loyal and growing customers of Fee G. My favourite boutique in Limerick, O’ Donnells stock their unique and elegant pieces every season and last year I bought a skirt and top for a wedding from them.

Everyone admired it. And I now wear both skirt and top separately to create different looks. Think cost per wear and all that jazz!

Followers of my Facebook Page, Womenwhowearblack and Instagram, Womenwhowearblack_blog will have seen me wearing this outfit above last October and O’Donnells boutique kindly featured me on their social media accounts!

Back to 2016, with three wedding invites already for this year, the shopping has well and truly begun and here is some of what can be expected from this Occasion wear Power House!

Black in fashion

Myself and one of my best friends were just this morning talking the disadvantages of Christmas and holidays….now there’s only one, that being having eaten all around myself for the past two weeks or so and gaining weight. At the moment everything is just a tad too tight and the denims are squeezing that bit more at my waist.

Never fear though ladies, with 2016 well and truly underway and all the New Year’s resolutions firmly in place it’s time to get cracking on a look that is not only stylishly on point but also our new best friend in hiding any wobbly bits that may suddenly have appeared.

Black is uber fashionable, flattering to wear, and hides a multitude of sins. Does  this colour really ever go out of fashion?

Style Inspiration;

Look One: Night time glamour based on Queen Olivia’s styling.

Dress

Heels

Clutch

That statement collar piece is from the amazing Jewel Genie here My sister buys lots from this lady and her pieces never disappoint.

Charlotte Tilbury lippie Such a great lipstick, I find it suits every look and is very moisturising. It’s called Penelope pink.
Look Two: Daytime chic based on street styling.

Dress

Tie sandals

Soludos These always sell out so if you like them, purchase now!

Tan belt

L’Oreal delicate rose by Naomi, I have this too. Bit of a nude lippie addict. Another one for your beauty bag.
These shirt dress looks get my seal of approval, not only will it be my saving grace while I shed some unwanted pounds but it will continue to flatter into summer with a nice golden tan.

Also if Olivia Palermo gives it a thumbs up…..I am sold!
